Urban slum
Habitat Korea builds public water supply facilities and toilets in slum areas.
Globally, over 1 billion people are living in slum area. As a result of a shapr increase in living costs in urban centres, the low-income families are being forced out of the cities into densely populated slum areas with virtually no working infrastructure. Habitat Korea builds shelters safe from climate change and public water and hygiene facilities.
Habitat Korea is also advocating the right to adequate housing to ensure their permanent right to stay, rather than facing forced eviction.
Flood-proof public toilets reduces water-borne diseases, and adequate shelters with windows are proven to be an effective measure against respiratory diseases.
Habitat Korea performed fire prevention education in densely populated residential areas that are prone to fire and casualties from it.
